Good news!   Leave a comment

I got some great news today- my NIH program officer called me to say she is going to fund my R15 proposal. Apparently, there is no money this year for R15 proposals, but she liked mine so much that she is allocating some ‘slush fund’ money to fund my proposal.

This is great news for me, obviously, but it’s also good news for my department- I will be able to support 2 graduate students (tuition and stipend) for 3 years, be able to fund undergraduates during the summer, and also raise the profile of research activities.

Getting extramural funding is really tough- this year especially- so it feels good to know that my research is valued by the scientific community.
